Raffaello Celommi
Raffaello Celommi was born in Florence in 1881, and was the son of painter Pasquale Celommi, whose pictorial talent he inherited. He returned to his father’s homeland, Roseto degli Abruzzi, at a very young age and initially trained with his father who introduced him to landscape painting, especially Abruzzo seascapes.
He observed daily life from the studio windows, and portrayed fishermen at work, fishmongers, and children playing on the beach. The painter uses a very bright palette, and a clear, terse light bathes the landscapes and subjects.
He has quotations between EUR 400 and EUR 4,000 for paintings dedicated to the traditions and bright seascapes of Abruzzo. Above these figures the exceptional large landscapes: the auction record in 2008 was EUR 18,000 for the large rural canvas at dusk Return from the fields.
The site is constantly updated with unpublished works by the protagonists of painting and sculpture between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
