    His having his mother died at an early age, he was forced to provide for the maintenance of the work with his father, became almost blind, and two sisters. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts and studied there under the direction of Bartolini.

    He met the Duprè which became his guide and who welcomed him into his study, where he then completed the model of Cain. His first job was a “Bacchante”, which exposed in 1852, in Florence, and after 10 years carved in Siena was sold at the Paris Exposition in 1867.

    In 1855, being dead Becheroni the sculptor, who had left unfinished monument to Giuseppe Pianigiani, I was called to the work compirne. For the Cathedral of Massa Marittima, sculpted the magnificent monument of Gothic, was “Monsignor Traversi,” with three statues and bas-relief.

    He executed the monument to the “Duchess of Salve” located in Naples in a chapel in the Vomero, and awarded in Florence, in 1861, and Vienna in 1873. He was appointed an Officer of the SS. Maurice and Lazarus and Knight of the Crown of Italy. William I wanted it decorated the Signs of the Crown of Prussia.
