Biography

Bartolomeo Bezzi was a landscape painter of great lyricism and tonal balance. He trained at the Brera Academy under the guidance of G. Bertini and F. Carcano. In 1882, he won the prestigious Fumagalli Prize, which marked the beginning of a dazzling career that led him to exhibit at major Italian and foreign exhibitions. He also received numerous commissions from the Royal House of Savoy (A sera del 1890, preserved at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome).

In the 1890s, he moved permanently to Venice and dedicated his best works to this city, not even sparing the experience of genre painting (Giorno di magro, 1895, preserved at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Trento and Rovereto).
