    Mariano Barbasan Lagueruela

    He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Valencia between 1879 and 1885 and then moved to Madrid where he painted works of a costumbrista and orientalist in the wake of M. Fortuny. Won the scholarship, he moved to Rome, where he fitted in perfectly with the circle of Spanish artists due to its link with A. Salinas.

    Later he settled in Anticoli Corrado thanks to his wife Rosa Luccaferri and specialized in the production of paintings and brush tip with vivid colors depicting village feasts and processions. He also made views of Venice, Assisi, Tivoli and Subiaco.
