He studied in Bologna and soon won a scholarship to go to Rome. Here came the environment of the Academy of Palazzo Venezia and B. Thorvaldsen and pulled away from the stereotypical Arcadian landscape painting to approach the study of the natural. Thus began to be among the masters in the art of painting country after the pattern of classical landscape painting, which provided the study from the truth of any particular natural and therefore the re-composition in the studio to achieve balance and composure. Among his works include the triptych – repeated several times to foreign customers – from Il Mattino (Il Tempio di Diana sul lago di Albano), Il Mezzodì (La grotta di Posillipo), Il Tramonto (Gli orti farnesiani).
