He had the rudiments of drawing from his father, numismatist, by Baratta Academy of Genoa, and Giuseppe Ferrari. But his real teacher was Bezzuoli, in whose school the artist studied from 1840 to 1846, having comrades, among others, the Ademollo, the Ciseri, the Malatesta.
There he performed “Adam and Eve” and a historical framework for the Queen of Sardinia. He treated all kinds of painting and also worked in fresco, but the pictures remain the most lively of his work, the one that makes him one of the best Genoese painters of the early nineteenth century.
