Fabi Altini Francesco
Sculptor from the Marches, born in Fabriano, September 15, 1830. He did his studies in Rome, in that Academy of Fine Arts and then under the direction of prof. Tadolini.
He is a member of the Accademia di San Luca, a member of many Institutes of Fine Arts and awarded many Italian and foreign honors.
At the entrance to the cemetery of Monza, the two statues “La Meditazione” and “La Preghiera” make a wonderful appearance, the execution of which was entrusted to him for having won the competition that had been announced.
The expression of those two statues is characteristic and solemn, and is well suited to the sacred place where they are placed.
Gentle, suave, beautiful, of the ideal beauty, with which he figured her out and made her to us the lofty poet, Fabi also knew how to outline a “Beatrice”; exquisite work, which makes the beautiful woman dream and goes saying to the soul, sighs.
To this figure he kept behind the other “Galatea”, of excellent workmanship, correct, elegant, finished execution; and the other fine work: “Venus who discovers herself in front of Paris”; gorgeous nude study.
Altini then made other excellent works, many busts, and portraits of characters of merit, many bas-reliefs and sepulchral monuments, and among these the “Monunento Golinelli”, found in the Fabriano cemetery, deserves mention.
The first work of this artist: “Love and Mercury” had a good success and was liked so much, that the Empress of Austria immediately bought it.
The site is constantly updated with unpublished works by the protagonists of painting and sculpture between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
