His father, was among the first French industrial plants planted Lithography in Italy, and also took care of art as an amateur. The young Henry performed the three-year preparatory course at the Accademia Albertina it is determined to master Enrico Gamba. In 1870 saw a volunteer in France, to fight against Prussia.
Then, requesting and obtaining Italian citizenship, he returned to France and continued his studies under Gerome, of whom he was a favorite pupil. From there he sent some paintings at the Promoter of Turin, and was followed by others from Cairo where he had been attracted to oriental painting projects. After having lived some time in Turin, where he made a “Portrait of Antonio Fontanesi,” portrait coal that now is found in the Museo Civico, and Milan, the city where he became intimate of the best artists, he went to Rome, already undermined by the evil which then had to nip in the prime of life.
The death of Francesco Mosso and Tranquillo Cremona gave him the last fierce blow, from which it is lifted: he died in the arms of his brother Benedict, musician. The Civic Museum of Turin, as well as the mentioned “Portrait of Antonio Fontanesi” preserve him, “theater” and “Meditation”. In the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan are located: “Balie Public Garden,” “Hispaniola”, “Balie at rest”; “Almea in rest,” Latin Soul “.
