    Date: 29/01/2011

    Exhibition venue: ROVIGO, PALAZZO ROVERELLA
Organization: Catalog edited by Dario Matteoni and Francesca Cagianelli
Event: THE ELEGANT NINETEENTH CENTURY. Art in Italy in the name of Fortuny, 1860-1890.

Exhibition Palazzo Roverella (RO), FRANCESCO JACOVACCI, Dreams, Oil on canvas, 71×52 cm. Private collection, courtesy of the Berardi Gallery. Crucial person in the history of fortunysmo, the Roman Francesco Jacovacci (1838-1908), … who was linked in the seventies to Goupil, to whom he had been introduced by Fortuny, also engaged with a series of articles published in “Roma Artistica” and in the 1980s he became director of the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. The work entitled Dreams can in all respects be considered a leader of the portrait genre so much in vogue at the end of the nineteenth century, in the context of which the homonymous painting by Vittorio Corcos (1896) must certainly be mentioned.
