Antonino Calcagnadoro, at the beginning of the twentieth century, approached humanitarian socialism, veiling it with Symbolist suggestions. The paintings presented here, executed in Divisionist technique between 1916 and 1917, are scenes of domestic intimacy, nocturnes and animalier subjects: a focus on a phase of his research that is otherwise little known.
