Cinzia Virno
Cinzia Virno, an art historian and critic, lives and works in Rome.
Formerly the curator in charge of the 19th- and early 20th-century collections at the Galleria Comunale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. She serves as an art consultant to the Court of Rome, private galleries, auction houses, and banking foundations; she is also an independent curator, exhibition curator, art advisor, and essayist. She focuses primarily on 19th- and 20th-century Italian art and market issues related to authenticity and forgeries, as well as conservation and artistic techniques.
She is the author of numerous essays, articles, and catalogs on 19th- and 20th-century painting, sculpture, and graphic art, with some forays into ancient art, as well as monographs on artistic techniques.
Among other works, she edited the General Catalog of the 19th-Century Collections of the Galleria Comunale (Palombi Editori, 2004).
She is in charge of the Archive and General Catalog of Antonio Mancini, for whom she published the Catalog Raisonné of Oil Paintings (De Luca Editori d’Arte, 2019), and is currently compiling the one on prints and minor arts.
On behalf of the Court, he has appraised and divided the art collections of some of Italy’s most prominent noble families.
He collaborates with antique dealers, private galleries, and auction houses.
