Andrea Iezzi
Andrea Iezzi, born in Guardiagrele (Chieti) on 28 February 1981, lives in Rome.
He graduated with honours in Classics from the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, with a thesis on The work of the painter Camillo Innocenti (1871–1961) from his early years to the ‘Roman Secession’, supervised by Prof. Fabio Benzi. He successfully completed the Master’s degree in Curatorship and Art Criticism 2025 at Treccani Accademia in Rome.
He is a PhD candidate in Cultural Heritage Research at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, 39th cycle, with a thesis entitled: Two ‘reborn’ museums: Gabriele d’Annunzio’s birthplace in Pescara, and the Gallery of Modern Art in Latina.
He was director of Galleria L’Opera, a Roman venue for artistic events (2013–2015). He worked as a catalogue curator for the exhibition Liberty in Italy at Palazzo Magnani, Reggio Emilia (5 November 2016 – 15 February 2017); he has collaborated with the Civic Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Anticoli Corrado since 2015 as a catalogue curator for the works on display. At the Museum of Anticoli Corrado, he curated the exhibition Domenico Ponzi, from 16 June to 12 September 2019, on the occasion of which he edited the monograph Domenico Ponzi: Sculptor 1891–1973, published by Palombi Editori, Rome.
He has been a collaborator, and subsequently a member of the board of directors, of the Fausto Pirandello Foundation in Rome since 2021. He contributed to the exhibition Gabriele d’Annunzio and the Artists, curated by Fabio Benzi, from 2 September 2023 to 28 January 2024, and to the exhibition catalogue by cataloguing the artists and contributing the essay Artists at the Vittoriale.
Between 2023 and 2024, he worked as a 19th-century art expert for the Arcadia Auction House in Rome; between 2024 and 2025, he worked for the Bertolami Auction House, specialising in 20th-century art.
In September 2026, he will curate an exhibition for the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris to mark the 70th anniversary of the Rome–Paris twinning, featuring two painters: Sergio Ceccotti and Umberto Passeretti.
