Cavalleri Vittorio
Educated at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, Cavalleri devoted himself to genre scenes, portraits and to the study from the truth. From 1895 to 1910 he exhibited assiduously in biennials of Venice and international exhibitions and won several successes.
This painting, inspired by a verse the poet Arrigo Boito, wants to be a hymn to the light-heartedness and happiness of children’s toys through the depiction of a group of children committed to play in an interior of the cottage.
It should be noted in spinning of onions one of the earliest experiments in the depiction of a kinetic movement that seems to anticipate those later taken by the Futurist movement.
