    Rubens Santoro

    From his father, Giovanni Battista, a painter and sculptor, he learned the rudiments of art. Established in Naples his family, the young man was able to cultivate the natural inclination to painting, attending for one year the Institute of Fine Arts, then studied directly on the truth, and constantly traveling.

    In 1875 he showed it at the Venice a picture, “A girl who laughs,” which was awarded a silver medal, and purchased by Domenico Morelli. Since then he pointed to numerous exhibitions with paintings by gender and marine, in which they admired his qualities of effective colorist worthy heir of the glorious Neapolitan school.

    Are cited among his numerous works: “A balcony”, “impression”, “Marina to Chiaolilla in Procida,” “Sun of March” and “Case of Procida” (these two purchased by the comm. Jerome Sweater): all exposed to exhibitions of the Promoter “Salvator Rosa” of Naples, in 1874 and 1876; “Marina di Maiori” and “a lesson in music,” presented at the National Exhibition held in Naples in 1877, the cave of the Gypsies, sent to Paris in 1878; “old age “;” Marina di Napoli, “” Youth, “” Well, “” the Gypsy, “” flyover “” Monte Tiberio “and” Quiet “all presented at the National Exhibition in Turin in 1880, five paintings by subject Verona: “in San Zeno”; “Adigetto”; “Via Scala”, “Stalemate” and “Riva San Lorenzo”, with whom he participated in Turin at the Exhibition of 1884, which also figured his sketches “Venetian” and “A Naples.
