After spending the first part in the hometown of his artistic life , an admirer and follower of Luigi Serra, he went to France , England and Germany and returned home in 1886 , imprinted with visions of the French landscape painters , especially the Decamps and Troyon which often approached . He settled in Rome participated in the movement of the “In art libertas ‘ , headed by Nino Costa .
He started his career in Rome in 1883 with ” A scene of boatmen ,” which aroused little interest. He exhibited again in the capital in 1886 , and this time he obtained great success with the paintings : ” Hospital of the infected ,” ” Plague of Rome ,” “The sentinel of death” , “The black priest of Subiaco ” ; “Source infected ” ; ” night nefarious , “” shadow of the moon “and others. From then on he represented in almost all the Italian and foreign exhibitions , winning prizes and distinctions .
In 1909 the Eighth International Exhibition of Venice where he held a solo exhibition presented works by thirty-four .
