    Marco De Gregorio

    With De Nittis and Federico Rossano founded the School of Portici, which Domenico Morelli ironically called “the Republic of Portici.” In a short time this school acquired an extensive reputation, which was consolidated from financial support of the then known dealer Goupil in Paris.

    The main works of De Gregorio: “Capri”, the Gallery of Modern Art in Florence “Procession” and “The death of the priest,” the property of the painter’s family Casciano, “Dogs and Cats”, in the collection of Baron Chiaranda to Maipoli; “Breakfast in the garden”, “Giuseppe De Nittis in his studio in Paris he is painting the famous painting the car Brindisi”, in the collection of the Comm. Annoni at Monza.
