He completed his education at the Academy of Brera where he studied under Sabatelli and Hayez, then went to England to perfect. Of eccentric character, did not enjoy the good fortune that he deserved as an artist, and he died poor and ignored.
His technique, also feeling the effects of foreign derivation, is, by design incisiveness and width of bill, absolutely personal and Italian. His major works: “Eastern Maiden,” “The source”; “The doctor,” “The Chariot”, “portrait”, “portraits of Queen Victoria,” well managed, the inspired “Portrait of Baroness Fini,” “Portrait Prince Torlonia, “” Portrait of the Painter Ferrari, “” Composition “and” La Fortuna “, both housed in the collection of Gustavo Botta in Milan,” Portrait of the Painter Joy, “” Madonna, “” Holy Family “,” Galatea “, remarkable for the sweetness of color in the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome.
