Lorenzo Viani

He studied in Lucca, in that Institute of Fine Arts , in which he had to master Michele Mancini and Pliny Nomellini , but , restless and adventurous spirit , he was trained by himself, on long journeys undertaken on foot, during which no lost no time , making it effective and daring designer , performer guessed sketches depicting preferably the outcasts of humanity, the humble, the children.

He started his career at the Exhibition of Art held in Florence Tuscany in 1902, with a painting purchased by the sculptor Clemente Origo . Since then he participated , with growing success , in all the most important artistic events in Italy and abroad. In 1906 he went to Paris , where he lived and worked , exposing between avant-garde artists and at the Salon of autumn, from which, for a series of works depicting Parisian , he was awarded the title of ” company .”

During the first European war succeeded executed drawings of scenes of war and especially the prisoners drew back , always following his tendency that led him to the representation of the miseries of mankind. And it was the exhibition of the ” Impressions of War ” of 1918, in Milan the Viani was noted and appreciated in his homeland . In 1920 , with the great painting “The blessing of the dead sea ” , currently in the Podesta of Viareggio, he won the prize of the Municipality of Venice.
