    Giovan Battista Filosa

    He attended the courses of the Academy of Naples pupil of Morelli, and completed his studies in Rome, completing his studies in Paris where he lived for ten years. He exhibited in various national and international exhibitions: in Turin in 1880, in Nice in the years 1883-1884 in Liverpool and at the Paris Salon. He dealt with various kinds of painting, but especially watercolor, succeeding in power and color to make the feel of oil paint. He was appointed Honorary Professor of the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. Some of his works, “Little girl plucking a fruit” preserved in the Museum of Clemency, “Love Letter”, located in the Museum of Glasgow. “The spiteful”; “Boschetto”, “At the edge of the precipice,” “The first days of spring”, “Confidence,” “The Walk,” “In the forest”; “Throbbing memory”; “After the New Year’s party” , “a dream on the shores of the Lake,” “Scene sentimental,” “the està to the Bois de Boulogne”: all these are passed watercolors on display at the Paris Salon from 1874 to 1882. At the Venice Biennale (1895) had exposed “the forest.”
