Gennaro Favai
Gennaro Favai (Venice 1879 – 1958) is the narrator of the decadent and symbolic side of Venice. His training took place at the Academy of Venice, but he soon approached Mario De Maria and Vettore Zanetti Zilla, from whom he learned the characteristics of secessionist painting. Passionate artist, rich in palette, often unequal, he succeeds above all in landscape where he expresses his original, spontaneous personality. Successful is its Bridge of Sighs. Many of his works are preserved in the Luxembourg Museum in Paris, in the Udine Museum, in the Toledo Museum, in the Philadelphia Museum and in the American Gallery in Washington. He was present at many Italian and international exhibitions.
