He studied drawing under the direction of Achille Vianelli, then in Naples was a disciple of De Vivo, Mancinelli, by Giacinto Gigante and finally by Domenico Morelli, which imitated the style and manner, which he held throughout his career, although with minor genius.
He treated subjects Pompeian life, biblical costumes and Neapolitan, appreciated and rewarded with numerous exhibitions in which he participated. Works: “An hour of idleness in the Baths” exposed in Naples in 1874 and purchased by the Marquis De Gregorio Alliatas; “Slave and mistress”, which he represented in the exhibition of 1876, “The Harem guard,” “Language of Flowers” , “Trimalchio”, exhibited in Turin in 1880 and preserved in the gallery of Baron Tezza, “Patrizi and Roman slaves”, sent the Universal Exhibition in Antwerp in 1885; “Bacchanal in Pompeii,” “market of flowers in Pompeii”; “St. Paul to the court of Nero “, exhibited in Leningrad in 1898 and regarded as his masterpiece. Today placed in the halls of Modern Art of the Vatican; “After the Bath”; “Ave Maris Stella” and “Self-Portrait” preserved in the Library of the Archbishop of Benevento.
