Arriving in Italy in 1872 , was a pupil of A. Malatesta at the Academy of Fine Arts in Modena where he learned a precise Drawing practices . Shortly after he moved to Rome by binding environment of the Swiss and German artists , and in particular to S. Corrodi.
Opened a studio in via Sistina began a successful production of landscapes especially dedicated to Lazio ( The Pinwheel of Castel Sant’Angelo ( Rome, Museo di Roma) and Campania ( Sorrento , exhibited in 1902 in Rome .) In 1878 carried out a trip to East with H. Corrodi by deriving numerous studies and enriching its production of Orientalist themes.
Tivoli can be identified with the work of the same name exposed to the Amateurs and Students of Rome of 1885, and in fact shows Porta del Colle in Tivoli . Stylistically it is one of the works best of Aerni for the brush fast and secure, very close to Corrodi , and vibrant multicolor palette . Among his works include : a road in Naples in 1882 , at St. Peter 1886 the prey exhibited in 1906 at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts of Milan .
