    Ferdinando Cavalleri

    After training at the Academy of Turin Ferdinando Cavalleri moved to Rome, which became his favorite residence. In 1831 he became a “painter of Cabinet” of the King of Sardinia and “director of studies of the real art students in Rome.” Cavalleri in the following years established itself as a renowned portrait painter of both real (1832, portrait of Carlo Alberto) and the characters of the aristocracy and culture. Museums: Works of Ferdinando Cavalleri are conserved among other things at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and at the Palazzo Reale in Turin Bibliographical references: Italian Painters and Painting of the nineteenth century, to c. of G.Matteucci, Novara, De Agositini, 1997 under the entry.
