Emilio Franceschi

( Firenze 1839 - Napoli 1890 )

Painter

    Emilio Franceschi

At twenty-seven, in 1869, Emilio Franceschi left Florence and moved to Naples, as a partner in a large factory of artistic furniture. The Franceschi was among the few artists who, over the plastic, worried, and much, even of thought: not content only to certain grandeur of lines, would not only please the profane and the companion of art: artist, in the true sense of the word, he wished that all his works express a concept, that every figure was the expression of a temperament or individuality in the field of art. His works include the “Opimia”, which is in the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, the “Eulalia Christian” in Turin for which he was awarded a prize by the Ministry, “Fossor”, “Ad bestias Damnatus”, the “Mater dolorosa”.
