Cesare Zocchi
Tuscan sculptor, born in Florence on June 7, 1851, he made his first studies with his cousin, the sculptor Emilio Zocchi, which in those days was study at the Academy of Fine Arts won the competition pel monument to the “buffalo” in Cesena, then the monument to the “Martyrs of Ravenna” and “Anita Garibaldi.” Then it was chosen for the monument to “Garibaldi”, exalted in Perugia on the then Sopramuro Square. Among the minor works of the Zocchi include: the tomb “Bellenghi” in Ravenna, to Att. “Nori”, in the cemetery of Cesena, the lovely statuette “The Taming” a “Michelangelo’s Child,” “The Angler”, and several works in the facade of Florence Cathedral.
In 1879 he was appointed professor of sculpture at the School of Professional Naples, in 1881 he was an honorary professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, in 1883, professor correspondent of Raphael of Urbino and the following year he was made a knight of the crown ‘Italy, in 1884 the Academy of Ravenna appointed him professor correspondent and in 1888 the Ministry awarded him the knight’s Cross of St. Maurice.
