Pupil of Simonazzi, he studied at the Institute of Fine Arts of Modena. In 1889 he won the Senior Poletti and exhibited in Rome at the Amateurs and Connoisseurs. Orientalist painter was in Eritrea in 1885 and ’86 followed the expedition Porro nell’Harrar suffering numerous works. In 1890 – ’91 he returned starting from Assab and ran through the Danakil coming up in Addis Ababa. The works carried out in this last trip are preserved in the Museo Civico di Modena.
The Gallery of Modena has Poletti: “Prisoners of Ras Maconen.” The Government Palace in Asmara has: “The feast of Ramadan” and “The Book of Mary.” In the church of S. John has painted in Spilamberto following motives: “The transit of St. Joseph,” “Ecce Agnus Dei,” “St. Anne and the Virgin.” It was at the court of Menelich faith and makes the portrait that now is found in Monaco.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Regina Margherita bought several of his works. He exhibited at the Show I and where colonial gave work to the Province of Rome and the other comm. Possagno of Milan.
