Alberto Helios Gagliardo
Alberto Helios Gagliardo was born in Genoa in 1893 and enrolled at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti in 1909. A Divisionist painter with Symbolist overtones, it was only in later years that he devoted himself to a more accentuated realism, following the Return to Order.
At auction, his works are frequent: quotations start at under EUR 100 for small graphic works, while the auction record in 2003 of EUR 15,500 was reached with a large Divisionist canvas of 1921, The Sun, emblematic of the Symbolist phase.
