He studied at the Academy of Brera and that of Florence, a pupil of Ussi. His first painting, “Jus de seigneur”, achieved great success, was bought by the Government for the Academy of Milan and is now preserved in the Castello Sforzesco. He devoted himself especially to the stretch in the open air with a characteristic and personal stamp; treated with originality also the fresco with its own special system tempera. In 1891 he won the Prince Umberto with the “Portrait of the noble lady Eleonora Cottalorda Tellini” and a gold medal in Monaco of Bavaria. He wrote of himself ‘and his art: “I try to achieve the highest expression of truth through the light and the atmosphere, but in front of the grandeur of the real, I feel nothing.” Main works: “Remember the mother,” “May Day,” “The afternoon”; “The Night”, exhibited at the Venice International in 1903; “Sorceresses shutters,” two decorative panels also exhibited in Venice in 1905, “Woman in pink, “” the guess “,” The chestnut vendor “, preserved in the Gallery of Modern Art” Paul and Adele Giannoni “of Novara, a” Portrait “owned by the Cav.
