Achille Mollica
Active in Naples along the second half of the nineteenth century, Mollica was the author of genre scenes and subjects Orientalists packaged for the international market and made with a technique neofiamminga, therefore of particular finitude. Among the works mentioned by sources A and Tunisian Fishing, sent to the Promoter of Naples rispettivaemente in 1874 and 1875, Labor and bread, sent to Rome in 1882, and before a feast exhibited at the National Exhibition of 1883. This painting of a young odalisque could be identified with Zobeida, the work mentioned by the sources on the painter and inspired by a character from an opera by Gaetano Donizetti entitled Alahor in Granada. Museums: Works by Mollica are preserved at the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples (Interior with female figure).
